CCCO-Rev. James Evans
. Singleness .
. 1 Corinthians 7:32-35 .
32“I would like you to be free from concern. An unmarried man is concerned about the Lord’s affairs-how he can please the Lord. 33But a married man is concerned about the affairs of this world-how he can please his wife-34and his interests are divided. An unmarried woman or virgin is concerned about the Lord’s affairs: Her aim is to be devoted to the Lord in both body and spirit. But a married woman is concerned about the affairs of this world-how she can please her husband. 35I am saying this for your own good, not to restrict you, but that you may live in a right way in undivided devotion to the Lord.
. 1 Corinthians 10:26 .
26for, “The earth is the Lord’s, and everything in it.”
We were made in God’s image. We were never designed to be alone; God is not aloneà The Trinity.
So you ask, “Can someone be destined to be single?
Yes. It is possible to be a single person and reflect the nature of God. BUT as a couple, you are able to COMPLETE, and better REFLECT the image of Christ TOGETHER as ONE MAN & ONE WOMAN.
•FYI: Corinth was established in a wild pagan town, where people had unusual lifestyles.
The marriage was not in a superior state.
•But Remember that the Sovereign Hand of God has placed you where you are for a reason.
•As the Lord has assigned to each one, as God has called each, in this manner let him walk.
•STOP TRYING TO CHANGE, STOP TRYING TO FIX IT!
If you are gifted with permanent singleness-God will “gift” you if you are to remain single. Like so....

•Otherwise the eternal future is already here. If you are single-stay single. If you are married-stay married. But if you’re single and you burn to be married, then get married.
Just remember, when you are single, you get to do things that you wouldn’t otherwise be able to if you were not. (eg: Looking back, some people feel that they could not have served the Lord or do what the Lord has called them to do- if they had not been single). All in His Timing!!
•His design is for us NOT to be alone, but to create families, and to share it with someone.
•God will not give you a sex drive and tease you with it.
Remember, God LOVES YOU, and He is in control!!
Verses to read and keep in mind:
àGalatians; need to have self-control.
à1 Peter 5
àPsalm 73
*àProverbs 3:5-6
And finally...pray for your other half...they're out there somewhere! But in the meantime...being single is a GIFT! ENJOY IT WHILE YOU CAN!
Hope this helped, and you also got a good kick outta it! =) GOD BLESS! |
